Ice Cube
Most ice cubes are a perfect, small square. Long and thin to dilute the alcohol, or the size of an eyeball for casual drinks.
I prefer mine as stars, or in such a crush it becomes a jagged mass that it gives way to your gnashing teeth.
An ice cube smells as its mother, faucet water. Calcium, strange minerals licked by plastic.
It is transparent, but sometimes smeared with cracks of white, and the image of the world breaks in its window.
Ice-cubes are the Americans' favorite accessory for the perfect drink - I believe it is their fashion for extremes that makes them dismiss the simple joy of an undisturbed, tepid drink.
The ice cube is otherwise appreciated for its stimulating cool, it chases heat and eases swelling.
